Egypt from the sea: The biggest harbour of Egypt is the Northern city of Alexandria is also the best (and almost only) place to enter or leave Egypt by the sea. Important checkpoint of the African’s market, Alexandria is the best option for travelers who want to reach Egypt by the sea.  Beside this big city, it’s somehowe hazardous to arrive in other harbour.

Haut de la page...

The political instability of this part of the world and the increasing tension between Israel and his neighbours make us think that Egypt is an unsafe country. Most of us have heard about the sad event of Luxor (1997) and Cairo (1999) where many tourists were killed by some obscures terrorist groups. The perception of Egypt is sometimes very bad and we easily think that it’s still dangerous to travel there.

Terrorism: Since many years, a great effort has been done by the government to stop terrorists and terrorism in Egypt. Most of the economy is based on tourism and the tragedy of 1997 let the country in a very critical situation. You can travel safely now especially if you are part of a guided tour and guided by our professional guides. Don’t be surprise when seeing so many gunman and policeman around. They are there to insure the security of the state of Egypt.

Robbery: Like everywhere else, when there are some unwise tourists, there are some robber. Be always aware of those “friendly” person getting too close of your bag. If something happen, there is always a touristic police nearby.

Woman travelling alone in Egypt: For woman travelling alone in Egypt some advises are important. Never forget that stereotypes are always on both sides. If most of us have an idea of the Arabic woman as very low profile, citizens of many traditional countries (as Egypt) see the western woman as very out-going and “sexually open minded”. In such circumstances, some Egyptian man be insisting. Stop any provocation wear a ring in your finger and dress you with long clothes. If you have any problems, tell it to a woman first (older if possible).
